![]() You can watch along as hit points are updated and active conditions appear on the screen IN REAL TIME, and click to view character summaries or full digital character sheets on D&D Beyond (but don’t worry, we’ve taken steps to hide all of the super secret spoilery stuff).ĭid we mention real-time changes? As the cast members update their hit points, add conditions, and equip new items, you’ll be able to see these changes on the stream in real time. ![]() The D&D Beyond Twitch Extension is an interactive addition to your stream overlay that displays on-demand character stats and status details from our friends at D&D Beyond. This is possible under the homebrew guidelines where you can make your own creations available.Bidet, Critters! We’re excited to announce that Critical Role will now be utilizing the official D&D Beyond Twitch extension - starting this week! It's important to note that the free critical role offerings in D&D Beyond (Blood Hunter class, and Gunslinger, Oath if the Open Sea, and Way of the Cobalt Soul subclasses) are homebrew that are made available for free (without requiring a subscription). TDCSR on the other hand is published product, but it is not a Wizards product, so they are not going to allow it on Beyond. ![]() The Blood Hunter is essentially just a glorified homebrew. Matt Mercer, Beyond, and Wizards also have a good three-way rapport with each other and Wizards allowed Beyond to feature the Blood Hunter more prominently. I believe that is because the Blood Hunter and a few other options are not published by third parties, so no else can claim their publishing right. I actually think it is quite likely that some or all of this content will be available to us. CR are probably the biggest ambassadors for both D&D and DDB, with DDB being completely and very prominently integrated into the show. I don't think it is as far-fetched as some folks do. I would LOVE (and happily pay for) this entire new sourcebook to be available in the same way, and it seems there is precedent for it, at least on a smaller scale. I just tested it and, sure enough, I was able to roll up a Blood Hunter, which is not in the WotC EGtW. On character creation there is a button that toggles to allow use of Critical Role content, including non-WotC content. The Blood Hunter class, as well as the Gunslinger, Way of the Cobalt Soul and Oath of the Open Sea subclasses, are all offered as free homebrew and not as third party products. It's a heavily revised version that Matt actually made freely available. It should be noted that the Way of the Cobalt Soul is not the version offered in the original Tal'Dorei campaign guide. You can use Gunslinger and Blood Hunter, (Matt owns on DMs Guild) and Cobalt Soul Monk (from old Tal'dorei book) and Fjord's paladin vow all on DnD Beyond right now free of charge. I would love the offering of more content, but I don't see it happening. Even when the Runeterra stuff happened and D&D Beyond had to publicly walk back the offering of content, which was the first(and really last) instance of any sort of cross promotion this site has really done. ![]() D&D, Pathfinder, Heroclix, etc.Ĭritical Role gets talked about having this huge partnership with D&D Beyond, and they definitely have one, but a lot(all of?) of the stuff from Campaign 2 was never released by their teams as public homebrew, it was sold as part of campaign guides, or on DMs Guild. Wizkids will produce anything with a license. It feels like it is getting pretty integrated into the D&D fold. If not, I will still buy it, but it will be much harder to incorporate content such as monsters, spells, and magic items.Įdit: Also, I note that Wizkids is putting out a ton of Tal'Dorei monsters and NPC miniatures to go along with this release. Given the tight relationship between DDB, WotC, and CR I think there is at least a chance that we will get it. I run a campaign set in Exandria and would dearly love to have this book on DDB.
